We are excited to share the good news that our congregation has voted to approve the campaign to install solar panels on our church!  The next step is the initiation of a capital campaign with a goal of $250,000. This amount will cover the installation of 144 solar panels, the required relocation of our electric meters, and a contingency amount.

We are pleased to report that we have been awarded a grant from Renew Wisconsin’s Solar for Good program that will cover the cost of 50% of the panels.  In addition, lead gifts and pledges from congregational members have been received.

One way you might consider supporting this project is to sponsor the cost of one or more panels, with a gift of $1700 for each panel.  All gifts in any amount are gratefully received, held in confidence, and will allow us to move ahead.

This is a short campaign.  Please complete and submit the pledge form below by September 1st.  It will be sent electronically to the church accountant, and you will receive an acknowledgement via the US postal service.  All pledge amounts are held in confidence by only the Financial Accountant.  If you have already submitted the pledge form sent to you in the mail, you do not need to complete this form.

In order to proceed in a timely manner, we ask that you pay as much of your pledge as possible by November 1st.  All pledges need to be paid in full by February 1, 2026.  Please note that there is not an option at this time to submit payment of your gift via our website.

We hope you will join us in this new venture in whatever way your financial resources allow.

If you have questions about the project or the capital campaign, please feel free to contact either Deb McCoy, church accountant at FinancialSec@firstcongolax.org or Allan Beatty, Campaign Chair at allanebeatty@gmail.com.

I/We plan to make our gift as follows.(Required)

I/We will be contributing this gift in the following manner:(Required)

If the capital campaign and grant funding monies exceed the solar project costs, I understand that the Council in consultation with the Creation Care Team is authorized to allocate the surplus for other energy saving or environmental stewardship projects in the church or community.

If the funds received by the church by November 1st 2025 and those pledged to be paid by February 1,2026 are insufficient to install a solar array, I understand that I will have the choice to apply any funds I have given in 2025 toward either (1) my future annual pledge to the church or (2) other energy saving or environmental stewardship projects that would be approved by the Church Council.[2]

If you have questions about this form, feel free to contact Allan Beatty (608-782-2589)

[1] If you are having your financial institution send a check directly to the church, ask them to indicate on it that it is for the solar project.

[2] This means that funds given to the church in 2025 for this project cannot be returned to donor and will be recorded as charitable giving for 2025.
