Sunday School
Sunday
School is offered during the 10am worship service, weekly through the school
year. Children of all ages begin the morning worshipping with their parents.
Immediately preceding the Children's Message, fourth through eighth graders are
invited to go to Sunday School. Following the Children's Message, children age
three through third grade are invited to go to Sunday School. The classes begi The fourth and fifth grade classes study the Bible in sequential order: the New Testament one year and the Old Testament the other year. These two years provide the children with the opportunity to see how all the stories they heard in previous years fit together. The children and teachers discuss the stories and how they relate to their lives. more details
The sixth, seventh and eighth graders take mini-courses in topics that relate to the lives of young people in middle school. Various topics have included: world religions, friendships, prayer and spirituality, why bad things happen to good people, core values from a Christian perspective, and more. We use "Faith in Motion" - a Life-to-Bible curriculum. Prayer and Christian meditation are also be included, along with writing and presenting dramas based on what they're learning. more details The high school discussion group meets once a month. Mission Statement for Sunday School:We will strive to teach our children with love our Judeo/Christian faith story. We will encourage them to go on their own faith exploration and spiritual journey by allowing them to wonder and question the meaning and various interpretations of our faith story. We will try to develop within them increasing knowledge and an understanding of God, God's universe and their place and purpose in it, with the hope that they will be able to make a sincere commitment and become disciples of Jesus Christ. |
