How to Join

You are welcome to worship with us occasionally or regularly before making the decision to become a member of the church. We want you to be sure this is the right spiritual home for you at this time. Some people actively participate in church life for years before deciding to join. The decision is up to you.

The next time we will receive new members will be November 12, 2008.

Approximately three times a year, during morning worship, we receive new members into the church. (See the Order for Reception of Members) A few weeks prior to that, a New Member's Gathering is offered. The next New Member Gathering will be October 22, 2008. The Pastor is also willing to meet individually with people who are interested in the church.
The New Member's Gathering is for people who have decided they wish to join the church. The Board of Membership provides tasty dessert and helps welcome the candidates for membership. The agenda includes: getting acquainted, information about the church, the rights and responsibilities of membership, and more.

Requirements for membership are outlined in the church Constitution: "Any person may become a member of this Church who desires to live a Christian life, has been baptized, and has publicly acknowledged the responsibilities of Church membership as set forth in the Constitution and Bylaws." If you have not been baptized, we will arrange for that sacrament prior to your joining the church.

The responsibilities of membership are outlined in the church Bylaws: All members, to the extent that they are able, are expected to: a) attend public worship and share in the Sacraments, fellowship, and programs of the Church; b) attend the annual meeting of the congregation; c) participate in the affairs of the Church by contributing time and talent; d) contribute to the financial support of the Church.
