Finances

The congregation approved the 2008 budget at the Annual Meeting on February 3. In the United Church of Christ, each congregation sets their own priorities, does their own fund-raising, and pays their own expenses.

The Board of Finance prepares the initial budget, asking each Board / Committee to estimate their needs for the coming year. Meanwhile, the Board of Stewardship conducts the fall Stewardship Campaign, encouraging members to pledge to support the church's ministries for the coming year.

After the pledges have been received, the Board of Finance looks at the proposed budget and the anticipated income and makes recommendations to the Church Council. The Council then prepares a recommended budget for the congregation's approval.

Occasionally, mid-year adjustments need to be made, but generally the budget the congregation approves in February guides the church finances for the calendar year.
