Bible Journey

Grades four and five do an intensive study of the Old Testament one year and the New Testament the next.  They begin to interpret the Bible at a more sophisticated level.  Scripture is learned in a meaningful context and memory verses are used in a variety of creative ways.  The curriculum used is “Journey Through the Bible.” 

This provides the children with the opportunity to see how all the stories they heard in previous years fit together.  The children and teachers discuss the stories and how they relate to their lives.

Students are encouraged to memorize ten key Bible verses each year.  As they start the program year, fourth-grade students are presented with a Bible engraved with their name. On Bible Celebration Sunday, fourth-grade and fifth-grade children receive ribbons to mark the verses they have memorized, and enjoy a breakfast before church for the entire family!
